How Do I Connect My PayPal Account to ClickBank?

Overview

PayPal® is a secure, digital payment platform available in over 200 markets around the world. ClickBank customers can purchase products using any major credit or debit card on the ClickBank order form. ClickBank Sellers can also add PayPal to the order form as an optional form of payment.

Note: PayPal is an optional customer payment method, not an affiliate payout mechanism. Only sellers who wish to offer PayPal to customers need to follow these steps.

Note: If you choose not to offer PayPal® as a method of payment to customers by connecting PayPal to your ClickBank account you must remove it as a payment option from your order form. Additionally, the currency for the sale must be in U.S. dollars and you must have U.S. dollars as an accepted currency in your PayPal account.

Requirements

You must meet the following criteria in order to offer PayPal as a payment method:

  • You must be an active ClickBank Seller and have completed the one-time activation fee.

  • You must have a ClickBank Master account.

  • The product currency and currency for the sale must be in U.S. dollars (USD), and you must have USD as an accepted currency in your PayPal account.

  • All products in a given offer, with the exception of free trials, must have a sales price greater than or equal to $7*. This includes all upsell flows and order bumps.

  • The full offer, including any subscription products and upsell flows, cannot contain an affiliate commission rate over 90%.

  • The offer cannot include products that exist in another account nickname even if that account nickname is linked to the same primary account.

*Note: If you wish you offer PayPal on orders containing products priced below $7, the following price and commission thresholds apply:

  • Products from $1–$2.99 = 60% maximum commission

  • Products from $3–$6.99 = 80% maximum commission

  • Products $7 and up: 90% commission

Provided all the above qualifications are met, PayPal is available on free trials.

Note: ClickBank fees for PayPal transactions are 5.0%. ClickBank fees for all other transactions are 7.5%+$1.

Potential Paycheck Discrepancy

Once you have connected your PayPal account to your ClickBank account, you may notice a discrepancy in your paycheck amount and your expected earnings. Funds that you receive via PayPal are not included in your ClickBank paycheck. Make sure to factor in any funds you have received via PayPal when comparing your paycheck amount to your expected earnings amount.

ClickBank Sellers will see a "Partner Commission" on their order details and account reporting within their PayPal account. This commission represents the following:

1) ClickBank's fee associated with selling the product through ClickBank

2) affiliate commissions, if any, due as part of the transaction, and

3) applicable sales or VAT tax charged on the transaction.

Note that seller transactions processed through a direct ClickBank connection with PayPal are not subject to refund and chargeback fees listed in the ClickBank Accounting Policy.

ClickBank sellers who opt to offer PayPal as a customer payment method receive payments for those transactions in PayPal, noted with a PYPL-NEW payment type in the ClickBank transaction log. You cannot receive payments from PayPal for any other ClickBank sales. Payments for all ClickBank sales except PYPL-NEW transactions are only issued via the payment methods listed below.

How Do I Enable PayPal as a Payment Method on the ClickBank Order Form?

Complete the following to connect your PayPal account to your ClickBank account and enable PayPal as a payment method on the ClickBank order form:

Step 1: Log in to your PayPal account. Refer to PayPal’s support documentation for specific instructions.

ClickTip: You must have a ClickBank master account to offer PayPal as a payment method. Creating a ClickBank master account is simple, free, and allows ClickBank sellers to manage tickets, view analytics, and access all ClickBank accounts from one location. To create a master account, follow these instructions.

Step 3: Click the Connect PayPal Account Connect Now button. Alternatively, on the left navigation bar, click Settings, and then click Payment Settings.

Step 4: Click Connect Now for the ClickBank account for which you wish to offer PayPal as a payment method.

The Payment Settings displays each of your vendor account nicknames and its PayPal Connection Status. To the right of the PayPal Connection Status is a Connect Now button that is enabled if the PayPal Connection Status is Not Connected and disabled for all other statuses.

Step 5: Enter the email address associated with your PayPal account, select your country or region, and then click Next.

Step 6: Enter the email address and password associated with your PayPal account, and then click Log In.

Step 7: Review the permissions, and then click Agree and connect to allow PayPal to connect with your ClickBank account.

Step 8: When the Thanks for signing up! message is displayed, click Go back to ClickBank.

Step 9: You must have U.S. dollars as an accepted currency in your PayPal account. To do this, open your PayPal account, click Pay & Get Paid, click Money, and then add U.S. Dollar as a payment currency.

Step 10: Open your ClickBank account, log in to the Payment Settings tab (see steps 3-4), and then view the connection status.

ClickTip: The following table lists the various status messages you might encounter when attempting to add PayPal as a payment method:

Step 11: When the status in your ClickBank account displays Status: Connected for the account you are connecting, customers can select PayPal as a payment method on the ClickBank order form.

ClickTip: In addition to any fees charged by PayPal, the order details and account reporting within the seller's PayPal account displays the following Partner Commission collected by ClickBank:

    • ClickBank's fees associated with the product sale

    • If applicable, any affiliate commissions due as part of the transaction

    • If applicable, any sales or VAT tax charged on the transaction

Step 12: Repeat these steps for each ClickBank account you want to offer PayPal as a payment method.

How Do I Disable PayPal as a Payment Method for a Specific ClickBank Account?

If you no longer want to offer PayPal as a payment method for a specific ClickBank account, you can deselect the Allow PayPal check box on the Order Form Control. Complete the following to disable PayPal as a payment method for a specific account:

Step 2: On the left navigation bar, click Accounts, and then click the account nickname you want to update.

The Manage Account Nicknames displays each of your vendor account nicknames and the date the account was created.

Step 3: Click the Vendor Settings tab. Then, click the My Site tab.

Step 4: Under the Order Form Control heading, click Edit in the top right corner.

Step 5: Deselect the Allow PayPal check box, and then click Save Changes.

When you edit the Order Form Control, you can deselect the Allow PayPal check box and save the changes.

ClickTip: When you deselect the PayPal check box, your ClickBank accounts remain connected to PayPal, but customers cannot select PayPal as a payment method on the order form.

How Do I Disable PayPal as a Payment Method for All ClickBank Accounts?

If you no longer want to offer PayPal as a payment method, you can disconnect your PayPal account from ClickBank within your PayPal settings.

Note: If you follow these steps and wish to offer PayPal in the future, you will need to repeat the connection process.

Step 2: Click your account name, and then select Account Settings.

Step 3: Under the API Access heading, click Update.

Step 4: Under the Pre-built Payment Solutions heading, click Manage API permission.

Step 5: Select the ClickBank check box.

PayPal Revoke Permissions confirms you no longer want to accept PayPal payments through ClickBank's platform.

Step 6: On the Are you sure? screen, click Yes, revoke.

ClickTip: When you deselect the PayPal check box, your PayPal account is no longer connected to your ClickBank account.
