Overview
As of Thursday, December 7, 2023, ClickBank clients who have connected their PayPal account to ClickBank will not be able to integrate with PayPal Express, which, as many clients will know, is the former PayPal integration method.
Clients with a connected PayPal Express account will automatically be switched over to PayPal Commerce.
Below find a comprehensive list of "Frequently Asked Questions" broken into the following section:
Current Changes
Q: As of January 2, 2024, what is changing?
ClickBank has worked with PayPal to integrate the PayPal Express payment method, which will replace the PayPal Commerce integration that has been in place since mid-2020.
Q: How is this different from the current setup?
Vendors will no longer need to integrate their individual PayPal accounts in order to accept PayPal orders for their products. Rather, all PayPal transactions will process through ClickBank’s PayPal account.
PayPal will be available on every order form. There will no longer be restrictions on the use of joint-venture contracts, CPA, or maximum commissions capped at 90%.
Q: Is this different from how PayPal worked in 2019?
This is identical to how PayPal worked in 2019. And will work the same as a credit card transaction on ClickBank.
Enablement & Setup
Q: How do I enable and set up PayPal for my account now?
Sellers and affiliates do not need to do anything. PayPal is now enabled as a payment method on every order form.
Q: Will PayPal be notated as an accepted form of payment on the order form?
Yes, PayPal will be offered on the order form.
Refunds
Q: How will refunds work with PayPal now?
Refunds will work the same as credit card transactions and there will be no need to manage future transactions in a vendor’s individual PayPal account.
Reporting
Q: How will PayPal transactions be notated in reporting now?
PayPal Express transactions will be noted as “PYPL” in reporting. Sellers who have used the PayPal Commerce integration (connected their own PayPal account) will continue to see rebills that come through with the description as “PAYPAL COMMERCE”. That is because the billing agreement between the customer and the vendor is connected to that PayPal account.
Q: Will this cause any data discrepancies?
No. Rebills through PayPal commerce will continue to come in with the description PAYPAL COMMERCE. New PayPal transactions will be referenced as PYPL. All of the data will be present in a seller's transaction report.
Subscriptions
Q: What about subscriptions that are currently paying via PayPal now?
Sellers who have used the PayPal Commerce integration (connected their own own PayPal account) will continue to see rebills that come through with the description as “PAYPAL COMMERCE”. That is because the billing agreement between the customer and the vendor is connected to that PayPal account.
