Related: The ClickBank Advantage
SMS Marketing lets you reach customers who have opted in to receive text messages from you. With high engagement rates, SMS is an effective channel for promotions, purchase follow-ups, and other communications.
This feature is currently available in beta to select high-performing sellers.
How SMS Marketing Works
When enabled, a checkbox appears on your order form allowing customers to opt in to SMS marketing. Phone numbers from opted-in customers are delivered to you via the Instant Notification Service (INS). You then use a third-party SMS provider to send messages to these customers.
Note: ClickBank does not send SMS messages on your behalf. You must use a TCPA-compliant third-party provider.
Getting Started
Contact your account manager to request feature enablement.
Review and sign the SMS Marketing contract.
Select a TCPA-compliant third-party SMS provider.
Ensure you're using the latest version of INS.
Configure your settings (see below).
Configuring Your Settings
You can control the SMS opt-in checkbox at two levels: globally for all products, or individually per product.
Global Settings
To enable or disable the SMS checkbox for all products:
Go to Vendor Settings > My Site > Order Form Control
Click Edit
Check "On by default" to enable, or leave unchecked to disable
Click Save
Product-Level Settings
To override the global setting for a specific product:
Go to Vendor Settings > My Products
Select the product and click Edit
Ensure "Display a Phone Number Field on My Order Form" is enabled
Under SMS Marketing Order Form Behavior, select one of the following:
Default to Site Settings – Uses your global setting
Disabled on Order Form – Hides the checkbox for this product
Enabled on Order Form – Shows the checkbox regardless of global setting
5. Then click Save.
We recommend running a test purchase to verify the opt-in data is being delivered via INS.
Compliance Requirements
To maintain access to SMS Marketing, you must:
Obtain consent: Only message customers who have opted in, and retain records of consent
Honor opt-outs: Process STOP requests immediately
Message appropriately: Avoid excessive frequency and keep content relevant to customer expectations
Follow regulations: Comply with TCPA, carrier rules, and FTC regulations
Troubleshooting
If the feature isn't working as expected:
Verify you're using the latest version of INS
Check your global settings in Order Form Control
Check product-level settings for the specific product
Confirm your third-party SMS provider is functioning correctly
If you are still encountering issues, reach out to your account manager.
