Learn more about the new affiliate tracking parameters on ClickBank

Updated this week

Overview

As of June 4, 2024, ClickBank has released new affiliate tracking parameters to supplement the existing tracking ID (TID) affiliate tracking link functionality, added new insights to reporting, updates to integrations, and more. These updates empower affiliates with advanced tracking capabilities, insightful reporting, and seamless integrations with 3rd-party services.

If you’ve ever struggled to track everything you want within ClickBank’s tracking ID (TID) parameter as an affiliate, this update is for you! Furthermore, if you’ve ever wanted to view data points like device type, browser, and even OS within ClickBank analytics–whether as a seller or affiliate–this update has you covered.

Affiliate Tracking Parameters

Affiliate Tracking Parameters enable affiliates to track multiple data points from click through conversion effortlessly so that you can understand where clicks and conversions are coming from. Tracking parameters, like UTM parameters, are optional URL parameters that can be added to HopLinks or direct offer tracking links to capture data at the time of the click, like traffic source (e.g., Facebook), traffic type (e.g., paid), campaign, creative, ad group, click identifiers and so much more. These data points can then be easily analyzed within ClickBank analytics to differentiate and measure performance across your promotions, or passed back to your third-party integration to ensure seamless tracking outside of ClickBank.

Prior to this update, affiliates on ClickBank have relied solely on the TID parameter for tracking data passed through an affiliate link, from click to conversion. While the TID offered some functionality, it was limited in terms of reporting and third party integrations.

Now, new affiliate tracking parameters reduce those limitations and give affiliates more usable information to better optimize their campaigns.

In order to better facilitate the use of affiliate tracking parameters, the Affiliate Link Tools section in the primary account and the Promote Tools, located in the ClickBank Marketplace, have been upgraded.

Common Request Data

This update package also included the addition of common request data that is automatically collected and stored by ClickBank, including timestamps, click IDs, device information, operating system details, browser information, and more.

The common request data is available across attributed events, and made accessible for client reporting insights and integrated partner consumption. The common request data is accessible to both Affiliate and Seller role types.
