Overview
Starting out can be daunting for new ClickBank Affiliates. With so many different ways to market and so many industries to tap into, choosing the one that is best for you can be difficult.
Here are some suggestions to help you narrow down your niche:
Take Your Time
A common mistake for new affiliates is to rush through the research phase. It’s important to take your time figuring out what area is right for you and what will set you up for success. Ask yourself:
- What am I interested in?
- Do people spend money in this niche?
- Are there products to promote?
Explore the Categories
Generally topics fall into four different categories: Passions, hobbies, problems, trends.
Passions are things like fitness, causes, and lifestyles. They are typically elements of people’s lives that take up a substantial amount of emotional and physical energy.
Hobbies are things like chess, golf, and canning. These are also important parts of people’s lives, but they are generally approached with less intensity than passions.
Problems are things that people believe add suffering to their life or impede their progress.
Trends are things that are currently gaining a lot of attention or traction.
Explore the Market
Once you have an idea of what the right niche is for you, explore the market. Is this an area where people spend money? A good way to find out if this niche is profitable is to find out what else is selling in it. Is there a particular magazine about the topic? Are there multiple magazines about the topic? That’s an even better indicator that people are willing to spend money on products affiliated with the category.
Explore the Products
Next, take a look at what kind of products are out there related to the topic. Ideally, a profitable niche will support informative and physical products. Affiliates will miss an opportunity if they select a niche that only supports the sales of either informative products or only supports the sales of physical products.
Narrow it Down
Another mistake new affiliates make is going too broad with their area of interest. We suggest narrowing it down. Getting more specific with your niche reduces competition and provides a particular audience to reach.
