Overview
ClickBank’s Exit Offer Customizer is a powerful tool that allows you to quickly build, style, add images to, and modify your exit offers. Exit offers are simple modals that load if a user shows intent to exit by moving towards the navigation bar or browser close button while on your order form.
You can use exit offers to encourage people to stay on the page, or even present them with a special offer, whether it’s a reduced price or other deal. Exit offers are currently only available on desktop.
Like the Order Form Customizer, the Exit Offer Customizer utilizes a WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) user experience that allows you to drag and drop content modules into the editor.
This guide contains the following sections:
- Accessing the Exit Offer Customizer
- How to Create an Exit Offer
- How to Customize an Exit Offer
- How to Switch from a Legacy to New Exit Offer
Accessing the Exit Offer Customizer
You’ll find the Exit Offer Customizer inside your nickname account(s) on the “New Order Form Tools” page, which you can access from the “My Order Form” tab under “Vendor Settings.”
Once on the New Order Form Tools page, click on the “Exit Offers” tab to build exit offers; edit, preview, duplicate, and otherwise modify your new exit offers; and even submit each new exit offer directly for review.
How to Create an Exit Offer
Once inside the Exit Offer Customizer, you’ll be presented with a “blank” exit offer module in the center of the screen that you can begin customizing right away.
If you want to dive right into editing, you can click the “Drop Module Here” copy to begin adding content, or click the “Click Here” button copy to begin editing your CTA.
Unlike the Order Form Customizer, you’ll notice there are no device type toggles in the top nav. This is because exit offers currently only work on desktop traffic.
How to Customize an Exit Offer
Like the Order Form Customizer, you’ll find three primary action menus in the left sidebar: Action, Module, and Style. Each menu allows you to customize or choose different functions of your exit offer.
Action
The Action menu allows you to choose what happens when a customer clicks on the call to action (CTA) button of your exit offer. There are two actions available:
Stay on Page: When selected, if a customer clicks the button inside your exit offer module, they will stay on the current order form. This action is best used for CTAs intended to keep people on the current page, like:
- “Are you sure you want to exit?”
- “Don’t miss this great deal!”
- “Are you sure you want to leave your order behind?”
These exit offers work best when you remind customers of the benefits of the product or remind them of the deal they’re getting.
New Payment Link: When selected, if a customer clicks on the button inside your exit offer, this option will load a new order form of your choice. This action allows you to offer your customers a discount, alternate product, or other special to secure the sale. This action is best suited for CTAs intended to enhance the current offer, like:
- Exclusive discount! Click here to claim your one-time 10% savings.
- Don’t miss this special deal!
- Don’t go! Your special deal is waiting.
Under the New Payment Link option, you’ll find a number of dropdowns available that allow you to modify your exit offer destination (i.e., the next page), including:
- Which product to present, whether different or the same product set at a lower price
- If you want to load a new custom order form template
- If you want to apply an automatic coupon to the new order
- If you want to add a different upsell to your exit offer, if claimed
- And VTID or other custom URL parameters
Helpful Tip! Be sure to hover over the “question mark” next to each New Payment Link dropdown menu for a full explanation of each function.
Module
The Module menu contains the available elements you can add to your exit offer: Text, Image, Image with Caption, and Dividers.
You can drag and drop these elements into the available zones of the exit offer template, or click the “+” sign directly to add your images and copy. When adding images, you can upload new images directly into the selected zone.
You can add multiple modules to your exit offer!
Style
The Style menu allows you to stylize multiple areas of the order form itself, including the background color, button color and border, and overall exit offer module border.
How to Switch to a New Exit Offer
If you are currently using the legacy order form with an exit offer, and you’re now ready to load a new exit offer on the new order form (customized or standard), there are two ways to load the new exit offer: 1) change your payment links, or 2) match the value of a new exitoffer parameter to an existing cbexit value.
(Note: This process matches the two options for switching from a legacy order form template to a new one, described in How to Switch to the New Order Form.)
1. Changing Your Payment Link
To update any of your payment links to load a new exit offer, first remove the cbexit= parameter from the payment link URL, and then replace it with your new and approved exitoffer= parameter.
Legacy Exit Offer:
https://[NICKNAME].pay.clickbank.net/?cbitems=[ITEM NUMBER]&cbexit=[00000]
New Exit Offer:
https://[NICKNAME].pay.clickbank.net/?cbitems=[ITEM NUMBER]&exitoffer=[00000]
Please note that new exit offers will not work with a legacy order form template. You must be using the standard order form or a new customized order form to load new exit offers.
2. Modifying the Parameter Value
If you prefer not to change individual payment links, you can update the URL parameter value of a new exit offer to match the URL parameter of an existing legacy offer in the Exit Offers Settings of the new exit offer.
Matching parameter values will cause your payment link with the cbexit parameter to automatically load the new template instead, provided it’s approved.
In other words, if you already have a payment link like this....
https://[NICKNAME].pay.clickbank.net/?cbitems=[ITEM NUMBER]&cbexit=12345
...simply name your new exitoffer= URL parameter "12345" and your payment link will load the new order form template, as desired! No need to manually change the link itself.
