New Order Form vs. Legacy Order Form
ClickBank’s new order form is built on an updated, optimized codebase that makes it faster, more performant, mobile-friendlier, and significantly easy to brand, enhance, and update using our full suite of code-free tools.
Currently, ClickBank supports two order forms:
-
New
- This order form is utilized as the default (uncustomized) order form due to its increased performance and more mobile-friendly codebase.
- Custom templates that have been built using the new order form customizer also leverage the new order form code.
-
Legacy
- If you’re currently using one or more of the Legacy Order Form Tools–like a Basic or Advanced Custom Order Form, or legacy Exit Offers or Countdown Timers–these features load our legacy order form.
Because the new order form leverages a different codebase, the customization tools built for the old order form don’t work with the new one.
To take advantage of the new order form with custom templates, you will have to build templates using the new Order Form Customizer.
Our new order form tools include the ability to add exit offers, countdown timers, and even custom CSS to match or enhance your current order form. These tools also make it quick for you to design according to specific device types.
Benefits of Switching to the New ClickBank Order Form
First and foremost, the new ClickBank order form beats our legacy order forms in page performance, load times, and other key areas.
Additionally, the new order form is easy to brand, modify, and customize using our Order Form Customizer: a drag-and-drop, “what you see is what you get” editor that allows you to build code-free, fully branded order forms that match the look and feel of your site or funnel in minutes.
If you haven’t already, we invite you to build a new order form template inside your ClickBank account. We have compiled these resources to help guide your way:

When to Switch to the New Order Form
Given that all our new order form tools are now live, in your account, and ready for use, all sellers are encouraged to make the switch to our new order form tools as soon as possible. All legacy order form tools will be retired October 30, 2024.
If you do not move your order form to the new order form tools by that date, your existing payment links will load our uncustomized standard order form, which outperforms our legacy order form in load time and design, but will not include any of your customizations. We encourage you to maintain your customizations using our new tools--and even further enhance your order form per device!
How to Switch to the New Order Form
To use a custom template on ClickBank’s new order form, you’ll first need to create a new order form template using our new editor and on-page customization tools now available in the My Order Forms section of your account (located under Vendor Settings).
After creating your new template, you can submit it for compliance approval from within the tool itself, and even chat with our compliance team regarding necessary updates.
Once you’ve built a new, approved order form template, we’ve made it easy to switch to the new order form with or without having to modify all your payment links.
If you’re currently using a Basic or Advanced Custom Order Form, your payment link has a cbskin parameter with an ID for one of your legacy custom templates, like this:
https://[NICKNAME].pay.clickbank.net/?cbitems=[ITEM NUMBER]&cbskin=[00000]
Our new order form templates don’t use the “cbskin” parameter. Instead, they use a “template” parameter, with a value you provide when you make your template. This value can be edited at any time from your templates screen or within the Settings section of the Order Form Customizer itself.
There are two ways you can start using a new order form template:
1) By updating your payment links to swap out the “cbskin” parameter for the new “template” parameter.
2) OR: By going into the Template Settings of the new approved template you’d like to use and changing that value to match the existing cbskin value you want to replace.
Method One: Payment Link Update
With the first method, you just edit the payment links on your site and replace the cbskin parameter with the new template parameter you wish to use:
https://[NICKNAME].pay.clickbank.net/?cbitems=[ITEM NUMBER]&cbskin=[VALUE]
https://[NICKNAME].pay.clickbank.net/?cbitems=[ITEM NUMBER]&template=[VALUE]
You can also create a new payment link that includes the template= parameter and replace the entire payment link URL on your sales page.
Tip: The icon next to the template parameter in the custom template table will launch a Payment Link Generator to help you easily create a payment link that uses that custom order form template. This is the easiest way to create new links.
Method Two: Match Parameter Values
If you don’t want to change your payment links individually, you can simply edit your new template value to match the cbskin parameter you want to replace, leave the associated payment link as is, and we’ll load the new order form.
In other words, if you already have this payment link...
https://[NICKNAME].pay.clickbank.net/?cbitems=[ITEM NUMBER]&cbskin=[12345]
...simply name your new template URL parameter "12345" and your payment link will load the new order form template, as desired! No need to manually change the link itself.
When we load the order form from a payment link with a cbskin parameter, we check the value to see if it matches the value of a new custom template parameter in your account. If it does, we use the new template instead.
This makes it much easier to make the switch if you have a lot of payment links that would need to be changed. Instead of updating each link, you simply have to edit or “name” your new template parameter the same as the existing cbskin parameter you want to replace, and we’ll load the new order form.
To edit the parameter value of a new order form template:
- Select Template Settings from the action menu in the custom order form template table.
- Modify the parameter value to match the cbskin value of the legacy template you want to load instead.
- Save.
Legacy Feature Considerations
If you're updating payment links that include other legacy features, we will load the new order form if your payment link is using “template=VALUE” or a “cbskin=VALUE” that matches a new template in your account.
If your payment link also contains parameters for legacy exit offers and legacy countdown timers (cbexit or cbtimer), those will be ignored on the newer order form. Because the new order form leverages a different codebase, the customization tools built for the old order form don’t work with the new one.
Exit Offers: You can utilize our Exit Offer Customizer to create new exit offers, with images, and load them from your existing payment links using a method similar to matching cbskin to template values. Refer to this section of our Exit Offer Customizer article for more information.
Countdown Timers: Countdown timers are now included in our Order Form Customizer and can be added directly to a new order form template using our on-page tools! When building your new order form templates, you can choose to include (and stylize) a countdown timer to drive urgency. Refer to this article for a walkthrough of how to enhance your new order form with a countdown timer.
Order Form Impressions: Legacy vs New
It’s important to note that order form impressions are counted differently between the legacy and new order forms.
The legacy order form records an impression based on the initial "GET" request from a payment link, whereas the new order form includes more precise impression tracking based on true order form load.
In addition, the legacy order form refreshes every 20 min to keep a secure transaction live, which creates a new impression each time, whereas the new order form updates only the transaction information without generating a new impression.
As a result, you can expect to see fewer raw impressions on your new order forms than their legacy counterparts when "switching" from a legacy order form to loading a new one.
Because the order form impression counts are logged differently between legacy and new, it’s especially important to pay even closer attention to unique visits and conversion rates when assessing order form performance.
