On March 7th, 2023, changes were made to the default setting for how the ?hop=affiliate parameter is passed to a seller's pitch page.
Now, with these new default setting changes, the affiliate nickname will not be visibly passed in the HopLink redirect URL, unless selected in your settings.
This change means that the affiliate nickname will no longer be automatically passed through as a parameter when a HopLink is redirected. Currently, when HopLinks redirect to your landing page the affiliate nickname is passed as a parameter in the URL so that the resolved URL looks something like: yoursite.com?/hop=affiliate.
In the next 1-2 weeks, the Hop parameter will no longer be passed automatically, meaning that the redirect URL will simply be: yoursite.com.
Please note that ClickBank’s HopLink functionality and tracking of affiliate referrals does not use or rely on this parameter in any way.
If you prefer to utilize the Hop parameter on your site, log in to your ClickBank account, access the account nickname you want to update, and go to Vendor Settings. You can select to pass it in the Managing Your Affiliates section.
