Automatic Upsell is a feature that uses data on past customers' buying habits to offer other vendors' products to your customers after they complete a purchase. If the customer buys the additional product, you receive credit as an affiliate.
ClickTip: This feature only applies to vendors. For example, if a customer purchases a product from Vendor #1 from an affiliate promotion and is then purchases an automatic upsell offer from Vendor #2, it is Vendor #1 who receives that commission--not the affiliate nor Vendor #2. The amount of commission that you receive is based on the commission rates offered by Vendor #2.
How does the automatic upsell feature work?
If your customers are likely to buy the products of another ClickBank vendor based on past sales data, we will automatically offer their products to your customers as an upsell once they complete their purchase of your product. If the customer purchases this product, you receive credit for driving the sale as though you were an affiliate, and receive the affiliate commission that the other vendor has set.
By offering an additional product to your customer after their initial purchase, you have the opportunity to increase your revenues without any additional development on your side.
ClickBank looks at a variety of factors in determining which products are recommended to your customers. Only products where vendors have provided an image are eligible to be displayed. Products the customer has purchased in the past will not be shown.
The additional product offer will be made on the order confirmation page after the customer’s purchase is complete. If a customer clicks on one of the products shown, they will be taken to the HopLink Target URL for that product in a new tab or window. The order confirmation page will remain open so the customer can access the initial product they purchased from you.
Excluding Specific Vendors
If you would like to request that specific vendors be excluded from your suggested products list, submit a support ticket, including the vendors' account nicknames.
Configuring Your Own Upsells
If you would prefer to select specific vendors whose products you'd like to feature as upsells, if you want to configure unique commission rates with another vendor, or if you want to upsell your own products, you can use the PitchPlus Upsell feature to configure your own upsell flows, and use Joint Venture contracts to set unique commission rates. General Data Protection Regulation Compliance
To comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Automatic Upsell feature is disabled for all customers in the European Union. See the Complying With the General Data Protection Regulation article for more information.
If you would prefer your customers only be offered your products, you can opt out of this feature. To opt out:
- Log in to your ClickBank account.
- Click the Vendor Settings tab.
- Click My Site.
- Click the Edit link next to Automatic Upsells.
- Uncheck the “Show automatic upsells on the confirmation page” checkbox.
- Click Save Changes.
